Waterlogged Labor Day

Greetings all! Before I jump into today’s post, I’d like to remind you that I’ll be over at Bea’s Book Nook guest blogging. The awesome book tour is almost over. I’ve met so many wonderful people in the last six days of blogging and had a ton of fun.

But this weekend wasn’t all fun. I’m sure you’ve all guessed that we had a tropical storm roar through, ruining what should’ve been a great weekend. Yup, Tropical Storm Lee dumped lots and lots and lots of rain on us. Just when it looked as though it was over, another rainband passed through leaving us with even more water on the ground.

It was so bad my dog almost had to swim through the yard to do her business. She was so not happy about that. The old cat, on the other hand, was cranky as always and determined to have someone sit outside with her. She actually climbed in my lap…sort of. It was more like she stared at me and my lap as though she was trying to figure out if it was worth jumping.

Right now I’m sitting on my porch and looking at the sky with the hope that the rain has gone away for a little while. I haven’t left the house since Saturday morning and I can only imagine the bayous are swollen and threatening to spill over their banks. Over 10″ of rain in three days will do that to them though.

The only true positive about storms like this is that it lowers the temperature drastically. Where Thursday we were melting in 99 degree temperatures, this weekend it never made it out of the 80’s. *happy sigh* It’s so nice not to sweat for once.

As for Lee…well, my thoughts go out to those who live northeast of us since that’s where the little bugger is headed. Be safe y’all!

Fantasy Man Friday

JOY! Today is Friday which means there’s another Fantasy Man coming your way!

Of course I’m going to take a few minutes to talk about something. Today’s topic is crazy weather. This week has been a mess. Rain, rain, and more rain. Tuesday night, we had so much rain that when I left my house on Wednesday morning, I was worried I’d get bogged down on the highway.

I got to work and it continued raining. We were hearing of school closures because of levee breaches, and all I could think was: They’re not going to let me get home. So when I drove home, I wasn’t terribly surprised to see a police roadblock. Unfortunately, my house was on the other side of the roadblock. The troopers wouldn’t let me drive through, telling me I needed to get back on the interstate. I can tell you know, the air was blue while I drove all the way around to get to my house.

I went a very round about way and when I get to the bridge before my house, guess what I see? Not a single puddle on the road. What were they protecting me from? Oh, I know, they were doing their job, but they added forty-five minutes to my commute. (I’m such a whiner.)

So in honor of the police officer who was so rude to me, here’s today’s Fantasy Man.

I can promise you, the officer I talked to looked nothing like this! I mean, if he had, I’d probably have offered him a ride to the next, er roadblock…ahem. Do all officers look like that under their uniforms? No, I know they don’t but could you imagine if they did? You’d have women committing crimes daily! I’m on the point of finding where this officer works, stealing some whipped cream…shutting up now!

Enjoy, and Happy Friday!
