Back in the Saddle

Well yesterday was fun…sort of. It was great having Rachel Firasek over and I’m so glad y’all had a chance to learn about her latest release. By the way, Nikki Brandyberry is the proud winner of Rachel’s giveaway! Yay! I’ll tell y’all, Rachel is a truly wonderful person and I hope you all check out the rest of her blog tour.

The not-so-fun part of yesterday was me being sick. It was such a bummer. On one hand, I figured since I was home, I could write, but then I couldn’t stand sitting in front of the monitor, so that didn’t work out. Then my mom fell down the steps (for the hundredth time). She’s okay! And I swear, I didn’t laugh until she laughed. She’s hurting, bruised butt and ego, but I think she’ll be fine.

Today though, I’m hoping for good things. I’m actually over at the Plot Mamas blog with another giveaway so I look forward to seeing y’all there. It’s the last stop in the blog tour for Succubus-in-Waiting. I have to thank everyone for being a part of it, but as you know, that isn’t the end of the fun and games.

Oh, noes. Lifestyles of the Fey and Dangerous is being released on April 6th and this means another round of blog tours. So if you’re in dire need of someone fabulously funny and goofy…I’m your woman! Drop me an e-mail and we can set something up. And yes, I have masks for this tour as well. There’s at least one person who’s won two masks so far (Jillian) and she’s on her way to having a complete set.

Lifestyles is about a shadow fairy assassin who’s assigned to kill none other than former bad boy, Malachi Cromwell. If you’ve read books one and two of the series, you know how charming he is, so it shouldn’t come as no surprise that she can’t quite bring herself to erase him. That’s when the fun really starts.

So…now that I’ve got all that out of the way…c’mon Tuesday, be good to me!

Fantasy Man Friday

Hey y’all! Today I’m over at Evelyn Byrne’s blog talking about why I chose to write about succubi in my newest release, Succubus-in-Waiting. Stop by to give me your thoughts on creatures of myth and legend and how you would change them for a chance to win!

Speaking of succubi, those of you who follow me on Twitter and Facebook should know that I’m a big fan of Ghost Adventures. I know, I know, Zak uses too much hair product, but hey…he has to make himself look as tall as possible to intimidate the ghosts! Anyway, I eagerly await this show every Friday. If my family or friends plan something, I tell them I have to be home in time for the show and I’ll watch it until I catch a rerun of the new episode. What I enjoy so much about the show is the way the guys react when they find something. I especially love it when they make Aaron go in a room alone because he so doesn’t want to go, you can see it in his face.

Anyway, I saw an episode where they went to the Ram’s Inn in England and Zak was calling for the incubus to come and get him. What they meant was a succubus since they’re guys and incubi only went after mortal women. Every time they make a reference to that episode, I crack up laughing. I can’t help it. Poor Zak.

That got me to thinking about incubi. They’re supposed to be absurdly attractive and have seductive powers that would crush any woman’s will to resist. Of course, that got me to wondering what my ideal incubus would look like. I mean, he’d have to be tall, of course. I have a weakness for men taller than me. He’d probably have to have dark hair and light eyes (a combination I find irresistible). And he’d have to be well muscled. Rar.

Kind of like this guy:

Nom, nom, nom! Those jeans look like they’re losing the battle against gravity, don’t they? *wipes away the drool* Oh, the things I could do to this man! Wait, incubi are supposed to do the, er “doing”…I’m not sure I’d like that very much. Okay, so it wouldn’t be a fate worse than death, but this is the kind of man who makes you want to touch!

*cough*

So, uh, who’s your idea of a perfect incubus?

Happy Friday, y’all! Have a safe weekend 🙂

Fantasy Man Friday

Oh, cher mon dieu, I thought Friday would never get here! It’s been a crazy week. Huh. I seem to think every week is crazy, don’t I? Well, this week really was crazy. Succubus-in-Waiting was released on Tuesday, I got the edits for book three, Lifestyles of the Fey and Dangerous on the same day, and an excellent review for Ruby: Uncut and on the Loose.

So am I ready for the weekend? You bet your sweet ass, I am! Pardon my French. It isn’t like I have much planned for the weekend though. Clean house, cut grass, dominate a team quiz fundraiser Saturday night, and I want to go roder on Sunday if it’s pretty. I might even take some pictures to bore you all with!

But before I can do any of that, I’m over at Rosalie Lario’s blog today for another interview and giveaway. I hope y’all will stop by for a visit and a chance to win one of the masks we made for Piper’s book.

It was Mardi Gras this week, so I think we should do something really wild for Fantasy Man Friday. What do you think? I just have to find the perfect man…

Chains, dirty, glistening skin, and look! He’s about to show us something! *gets her beads ready* *snort* Who am I kidding? I wouldn’t throw this man Mardi Gras beads. Hell, I’d throw myself at him. Rar.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you have a great weekend!

Release Day!!

And the crowd goes wild! Not really, but that’s what I hear in my head. Hey, I’m a writer, it’s what we do!

So today is the release of the second book in my Veil Series, Succubus-in-Waiting, and I’m ready for some fun! I’ll admit it, this book was one of my favorites to write. I adored Connor and Piper, so I hope everyone else does as well.

Did I mention that today’s also Mardi Gras? Woo-hoo!

I know I said I was going to keep with the Mardi Gras theme for What’s Playing Wednesday, but it seemed wrong not to play the most heard Mardi Gras song on Fat Tuesday. So here you go, the supreme Mardi Gras song 🙂

If you saw the whole video, then you saw a lot of parade pictures. Yes, today is the day for shouting, “Throw me something, Mister!” and in honor of that and my book release, I’m over at Falyn Donaldson’s blog for a special book release um, parade. That’s right! Now, everyone knows that New Orleans is infamous for people who flash for beads. I’m on Falyn’s blog asking you to flash me…with pictures of hunky men.

Yes! Go on over to read all about it and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for nummy men who might catch my attention so I’ll “throw”  you something. Sound like fun? I hope it is! I look forward to seeing y’all there!

Happy Mardi Gras!

Lundi Gras

Happy Lundi Gras! You’re probably wondering what the hell Lundi Gras is. Well, tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, so today means Fat Monday. It’s also known as Shrove Monday. *shrug*

Anyway, I have a lot of news to report, so get out your notebooks. Ready?

First of all, the winners from Ciara Knight’s blog interview and giveaway are…Rebecca Zanetti and Susan Fields! Yay! I had such a wonderful time on Ciara’s blog and I’m so thankful she invited me over to meet some of her readers. Okay, it sounds like a cocktail party, doesn’t it? Well, that’s because it felt like that…minus the drinks (unless y’all had some and didn’t share) and minus the uncomfortable party dress (yay for pajamas!).

Secondly, today I’m over at Rebecca Zanetti’s blog for another interview and giveaway! It was an honest drawing on Ciara’s blog. I promise. Random.org is my friend and doesn’t accept bribes as far as I know 🙂 So hop on over to Rebecca’s blog for your chance to win another hand-painted mask!

Third, (I told you I had a lot of news!) my first book in the Veil Series, Ruby: Uncut and on the Loose is now available for print! You can order it from Amazon or Barnes and Nobles. Yay.

Then, tomorrow is the release day of my second book in the Veil Series, Succubus-in-Waiting. I’ll be hosting a “parade” over at Falyn Donaldson’s blog. You flash your hot men to me and I’ll “throw” you some goodies! Be sure to stop by for that, it’s sure to be a lot fun 🙂

And the last bit of news, (finally!) I received an e-mail over the weekend about a local writer’s conference. It’s only one day, but it looks to be filled with a lot of great information and speakers. If you happen to be in the New Orleans area on the weekend of March 26, you may want to check it out: http://www.terrebonne.lib.la.us/jubilee2011.pdf

So that’s everything! I hope everyone has a great day!

Fantasy Man Friday

I know I always start Friday posts by saying, “Wow, what a week!” and not to sound redundant, but what a week! I haven’t had a chance to breathe, but this time around it doesn’t have anything to do with writing. My day job has been running me ragged and I like it! LOL

There was other writing related stuff going on though with the release of my cover for the next book in my Veil Series, Succubus-in-Waiting. It’s a gorgeous cover and I’m beyond pleased with it. The book comes out March 8th, so I’ve been spending what time I have available setting up a blog tour. I still have a couple of spots to hammer out dates for, but I’m booked solid!

I have masks for this blog tour as well, although they’re vastly different from the Ruby masks. These are all tiger masks with slight variations between them. I did the tiger theme because the heroine of Succubus-in-Waiting is a succubus-tiger halfling. Yeah, she’s special 🙂

So this is where I’ll be in the upcoming weeks:
February 28, 2011 – Southern Fried Gothic
March 4, 2011 – Ciara Knight’s blog
March 7, 2011 – Rebecca Zanetti’s blog
March 8, 2011 – Falyn Donaldson’s blog
March 11, 2011 – Rosalie Lario’s blog
March 15, 2011 – Haunted Dreams, Dark Destinies
And two more spots I don’t have dates for yet, but I will post the tour on my website, so check for updates!

Because it’s been crazy busy, I think I need to climb in bed again. I know, I’m such a lazy woman, but if you had this waiting for you…you’d feel the same…

Nom, nom, nom!! Oh yes…he’s waiting for me. See? He’s looking for me! I wish I could stay and chat, but um, we have things to do 😉

Happy Friday y’all and have a safe weekend!

Cajun French: Grattons

Before I get into the Cajun French lesson of the day, I have two, no three announcements to make. First of all, the winner of an ARC of Fated by Rebecca Zanetti is…Lara Dunning! I have to say, I loved that interview and all of the fun comments. I hope to have Rebecca back some day…perhaps with her next release? We’ll have to see.

The second announcement is that today is your last chance to win a hand painted Mardi Gras mask made especially for my release of Ruby: Uncut and on the Loose. I’ll be over at Avril Ashton’s blog for an interview. I’ve had so much fun on this blog tour and I hope you have as well. It’s been an absolute pleasure! Now go comment for a chance to win! 😉

Last, but not least, I have a release date for the 2nd Veil book, Succubus-in-Waiting. It’ll be released March 8, 2011, which is Mardi Gras! Woo-hoo, party time! Probably not, I don’t party like I used to, but that’s okay! I’ll spend it online goofing off instead 😉 There’ll be another blog tour with  yet another giveaway for that book, so be on the lookout for those dates. If you’d like to have me over, just drop me an e-mail!

Okay, now to the really fun part of today’s post. Cajun French. I think my next book’s release date has put my mind in Mardi Gras mode. The first thing that popped into my mind was how much I adored my one Mardi Gras experience in Gheens, Louisiana. It’s a one-road community and we used to laugh that the world revolved around Gheens, but they sure know how to put on a Mardi Gras celebration.

Now, there’s a lot of preparation that goes into this event. Hogs are butchered which sets up the best tasting heart-attack-on-a-table  you’ll ever have. Most of you know fried pig fat as cracklins. We call them grattons (pronounced gra-tons, roll the gra and it rhymes with batons). If you’ve never had grattons straight from the pan, you haven’t lived.

When I say heart-attack-on-a-table, I mean it because the batches of grattons are tossed onto a protectively lined table and a box of salt poured over them. You want them when they’re hot. *stomach growls* I haven’t had fresh grattons in years. The closest I’ve come is when a vendor brings in a batch from two hours away. They’re slightly warm and still kind of soft, but nowhere near as good straight out of the pan.

It doesn't look appetizing, but mais! They're like crack!

Those are grattons. It’s a much cooler word than cracklings. When I hear cracklings, I always think about Clash of the Titans when Calibos says, Release the Kraken! And as much as I’m all for eating squids and octopi…it just doesn’t compare to grattons.

So, the next time you’re at the store and you see a bag of cracklings, you can now call them grattons and have everyone stare at you. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to drool over the thought of a table of grattons with no one to share it with 😉
