Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00058]Blurb:

Landry Michaels, lead enforcer for the KinKaid pack has a secret. Well…make that more than one. He’s in love with the alpha’s sister, Rosa, and his best friend, Kaleb. Wouldn’t be so bad if having either of them was in the realm of possibility. Landry’s past, and his present, contain one too many stains, making him a bad fit for the pack’s beauty. And when it comes to Kaleb… The fact the male is straight is only the beginning of why he’s “hands off”.

Kaleb Dalton is a male who has it all. A great family. A job that allows him to work every day with his best friend, Landry. Everything should be great, right? Except for the fantasies about his partner that plague his days, and the desires for Rosa that taunt him in his dreams at night. Two people, if he had half a brain, who should not be on his short list for lovers. As a male who’s earned his reputation as a player, settling down with Rosa is out of the question.  As for Landry…? Kaleb’s heterosexual, born and breed from one of the top families in the pack—so what the hell is the other male doing in his daydreams?

Ever since she was a little girl, Rosa Kinkaid has had Landry and Kaleb’s attention. But it was never anything serious. They were friends. Besides, there has always been plenty of time for her to choose a lover—a mate. Her family needed her, and they came first. Until now…

Rosa’s going into heat.

But that’s not their only problem. The KinKaid and Gregorson pack are on the verge of war. And there are long-buried family secrets, feelings, and hidden desires rising to the surface along with Rosa’s heat. Some will be shocking and others more disturbing than any of them are prepared to handle.

“So what is it that you’ve been keeping from me?”

Landry flinched, but managed to swallow the last gulp of his beer without choking. He twisted in his seat at the bar and gave his partner his best what the fuck are you talking about? look.

“Don’t even try that face on me. I’ve known you way too long for your innocent look to work. You’re full of shit and you know it.”

“Damn, mutt.” Landry plopped a hand over his heart. “You wound me.” Kaleb had been his best friend since they were kids, and he really did know him too well. Keeping any secrets from the male was hard as hell. In a way, Landry was kind of surprised Kaleb had allowed three days to pass since the wolf culling by the Gregorsons on the KinKaid border before bringing up his omission. The guy wasn’t known as one of their pack’s best enforcers for his charm alone. Kaleb could be relentless when he wanted. Still, the male’s strength, brilliance and skill didn’t make him a mind reader.

Thank God.

For Landry had no intention of ever discussing the screw-up that had landed him and the Gregorson’s lead enforcer—the alpha’s younger brother, Arick—in bed. Shit. It had been six months ago, yet Landry still squirmed in disgust over his idiocy. During their first few hook-ups at the fetish club Landry sometimes frequented, he’d had no idea who the male had actually been. But that small aspect didn’t make the mistake sit any easier inside his gut.

Blurb:

Sabrina Rivers, an orphaned half witch and magical misfit, has been hidden from the world for almost a century by her Aunt Eleanor. Her only possession is a mysterious dark crystalline pendant she can’t remove. She knows nothing about its powers or purpose.

When mercenaries attempt to steal the pendant in broad daylight, Eleanor has no choice but to entrust Sabrina’s safety to vampire Brandon Thorpe, kingpin of Atlanta’s supernatural underworld. While Eleanor hunts the would-be assassins, Sabrina learns what it means to finally be free to live and to love, but freedom has a cost. Her sheltered life left her with a heavy burden and no way to protect herself.

“Mr. Thorpe? Sir, we have received word of a bombing in Asheville. It appears someone targeted Hilargi, Inc. A black BMW M5 matching the description of Eleanor Beckett’s was seen leaving the area. We believe she is headed this way. What would you like for us to do?” The skinny, small-framed man looked more like a sleazy used car salesman than a messenger. Tension and fear filled his voice. He was only a few steps into the room but seemed to think it was too far in for comfort.

His boss looked up from his paper with no particular interest, picked up his wine glass, and gave the dark-red contents a hard look. He took a large mouthful and swallowed hard. Giving the skinny man an appraising eye, he thought about the message for a few moments more.

“Let her. Don’t try to stop her, for your own safety. If she is on the run, there’s something far more dangerous on her trail. Do you know if she was alone?”

“We can’t be sure, sir, but we think she has her niece and a fairy with her.” The salesman-like messenger took a step back toward the door, anxious to be anywhere but here.

“Well, then. I think we can expect guests. I look forward to meeting them. Send most of the guards and staff away. Tell them they can have the evening off and to go party responsibly.” The man practically ran from the room, leaving him alone. He was intrigued. Eleanor was rumored to have something of tremendous value in her possession. Whatever it was, she was sure to have it with her. Her visit had the potential to be very profitable. Perhaps she would barter safety for a little slice of the pie. He would have to call this in to his boss. His boss required a taste of Thorpe’s profitable dishes, but it was okay. That was just how the system worked, how he himself had became so wealthy. He smiled to himself and went back to reading his paper.

About Lea Barrymire

Lea lives in Western New York with her hubby, three children, and miscellaneous critters. Before the rugrats, she lived a life of adventure, following her husband all over Europe with the US military. She’s slept in a car outside Paris, drove six hours just to see tulips in the Netherlands, and knocked ash from her shoes at Pompeii. Now she spends her time in life’s adventures at soccer games, PTA meetings and school plays.

Lea has loved reading from a very young age, spending many sleepless nights devouring books. Science fiction and paranormal were her favorite genres to read as a teenager, and that love bled into her adult life. She started writing during a bout of insomnia, to fill time, and found it filled a creative void. Now she communes regularly with the characters in her head and tries not to laugh out loud when they say something funny.

When Lea isn’t reading, writing or corralling kids, she enjoys watching movies and sciencey shows, or just kicking back and listening to some music.

What she doesn’t know is that she has already caught the eye of a warrior before stepping foot into the Ball.

Warrior Sabar T’Brun is ready to take a mate but doesn’t want a weak female. He sees what he craves in the willful Rella during her Initiation Ceremony. Her sweet submission and soft cries of passion are exactly what he wants in a mate.

Excerpt:

Donning a clean shift, she sped toward the dining room on silent feet. The fabric moved against her still-peaked nipples, making every movement arousing. That is what happens when you touch yourself before lessons. She slowed as she walked into the room. She didn’t want to keep Bana waiting any longer than she needed to, but running through the house was frowned upon. Her sister stood, beautiful as always. Bana’s curvy body was perfect in its stillness. Golden hair framed a heart-shaped face and lay over her shoulder in a long braid. Jealousy made its course through her. Why was she so different than her sisters? Bana was a perfect example of their race, and a perfect female according to the teachings. Light in hair and skin, plump breasts, wide hips and a narrow waist. Grace and silent submission oozed from every pore when she was around anyone else. Rella would never be able to match that, ever.

“There you are. I was thinking I’d have to come in there and get you.” Her sister’s words were bitten off, shortened by her irritation, but that was nothing unusual. Rella took a deep breath, schooling her face in the smooth mask of submission she used around everyone. Don’t take the bait.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.” Wouldn’t want your nose to wrinkle at my stench. Rella sat quickly at her seat and pulled her tablet and marker to her, hiding her grin. “I’m ready.”

“Good. We will cover the union of our two races and the reason why we celebrate with the Unity Festival.”

“I’ve learned this every year, nothing new has happened, so why are we going over it again?” The hint of whine in her voice made her grimace. She tried not to sound like a petulant child, but her daily studies brought out the worst in her.

“You will learn it again because I said so, and because this is your first ball. It is most important for you to understand the history of our world and how much we owe the Zabyr warriors for our freedom,” Bana barked.

“Like we’re really free,” Rella whispered. A loud crack reverberated around the room as her sister’s hand connected with her cheek. She closed her eyes. Don’t react. Instead of flinching or reaching up to smooth the sting, she willed the pain away.

“You will do as you’re told,” Bana shouted in an uncharacteristic burst of emotion.

Release Day Strip Off

Woot! Today’s the release of You Bet Your Banshee (The Three Kingdoms) and I’m so excited about it that I’m giving away a copy to one lucky commenter. But first, did you know there’s still time to win a copy of Keyboards and Kink Anthology which releases from Evernight this Friday. Just visit as many of the author blog sites participating in the blog hop for a chance to win!

And now on to the banshee release day song. This month is all about stripping/taking your clothes off for What’s Playing Wednesdays. I know, it isn’t my regular fair and I’m sure someone will be very put out with me for the objectification of women, but the heroine of You Bet Your Banshee is a stripper. She became one as a way to make fast money. Did I mention she’s also a banshee on the run which means she can’t exactly get a job where paperwork is required? Or that she has a very unique skill that makes her a good stripper? Yeah, well, she does.

So when I was thinking about a theme for What’s Playing Wednesdays, I realized there are a lot of songs out there about stripping, taking your clothes off, etc. and decided that was the direction I needed to take in honor of Magda.

Today’s offering is Wyclef Jean’s “Perfect Gentleman”. I really do like this song and when it came out, I was immediately hooked. It’s fun, it’s interesting, and well, just because she dances from pole to pole, it don’t make her a ho, no. Which is exactly how I portrayed Magda.

So, to win a copy of You Bet Your Banshee, just tell me what your name would be if you were an exotic dancer. Would you go for something traditional, or something else? The contest will remain open until midnight June 10th and the winner announced on Monday, June 11. And don’t try to tell me you’ve never given any thought to stripping, even if it’s only in your own home. I’ll also be over at Stacey Espino’s blog tomorrow with another chance to win, so be sure to check back for the link!

What’s a banshee to do when she’s sentenced to death because of her inability to cry? Move to Earth and become a stripper, of course. For ten years, Magda O’Quinn has lived on Earth, supporting herself with her butt-shaking skills and hiding from the banshee queen who wants her death, before she discovers people are hunting her who won’t stop until she’s back in Fairworld.

The first to find her is hunky Halfling, Ryvan Keller, an agent of the fairy queen. The attraction Magda feels for him is panty-wetting to be sure, but there’s no way she’ll give in to her attraction and meekly follow him back into the hell of Fairworld. She’ll have to battle extreme lust for a sexy Halfling, fall in love, and defeat an evil queen before she can get back to the business of having a life again.

Remaking The Eurythmics

Happy release day to me…Happy release day to me…Happy release day to meeeeeeee, Happy release day to me! Y’all are totally singing along, aren’t you? Sorry for the earworm.

But in case you didn’t realize, today is release day for my fourth Veil book, Ain’t No Bull. Yay! For those of you who have been following this blog for a while,  you’ll recognize this story as the Amazon and Minotaur romance. Yes, I know. Minotaurs? Seriously?  You bet! My hero is a minotaur. He’s half-man, half-bull. Sometimes. Other times, he’s a bull. And still other times, he’ s smexy blond with a naughty smile. *le sigh*

Anyway, this isn’t all about my book. Today is also a continuation of the summer remake series. Going along with the topic of writing and release days, I picked today’s remake because writing is a dream for me. I always aspired to it, but never thought it would go anywhere. Imagine my surprise when it did and it seems that some people actually like the stuff I’ve written. *blinks* I know. Weird, huh?

So today’s remake is “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)”. Originally performed by the Eurythmics in the early 80s, this song got a remake in the 90s by a highly unlikely band. Yup, I’m sure you all know who I’m talking about. Marilyn Manson remade this song, making it darker, edgier, and altogether more disturbing than it originally was. It’s kind of interesting how Marilyn Manson has remade so many 80s hits. Were you aware that they’ve remade “Tainted Love” and “Personal Jesus”? I guess good ole Marilyn is a big fan of the 80s, but then again, who isn’t when it comes to the music?

Since today is my release day, I’ll be giving away a PDF copy of my newest book, Ain’t No Bull, to a lucky commenter. You can answer one of two questions: What do you think of the remake? Or what’s your dream?

Special What’s Playing Wednesday

Well, it’s finally here. Release Day! That’s right, folks. Ruby: Uncut and on the Loose is now out through Siren Publishing.

I’m actually a lot calmer than I thought I would be. Of course, that might have more to do with me waking up at 4 this morning to work out and forcefully calm myself. I’m sending my little book into the wild with the hopes it isn’t maimed.

There’s a lot going on today besides it being my Release Day (sorry, but I simply have to write it like that…it looks more important and official that way, doesn’t it?). I’m blogging over at the group blog, Four Foxes, One Hound about my thoughts on romance. I’m also going to be over at Southern Sizzle Romance for Wetsday and I’ll be giving away another prize, so check it out.

And now for What’s Playing Wednesday. Unfortunately, Danica’s Magical Music Player didn’t have quite the right song for today. I toyed with the notion of posting Kool & The Gang’s Celebration, but it didn’t seem quite right either. I had to delve deep into my mind for the perfect song to express my happiness for today and then I remembered one of my favorite cartoons.

Yes, when I was in high school and college, my sister (who is 8 years older), my brother-in-law (who’s 10 years older), and I would wake up bright and early to catch The Ren & Stimpy Show. Is it any wonder I had to choose the Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy Song? I think it suits my mood perfectly!

So here you go:

I’m so glad to have had you wonderful folks with me during this struggle to publication. I couldn’t have done it without you and your encouraging comments through the last couple of years.

Cover Art Goodness

I know, I rarely ever put two blog posts up in one day, but this is too good to pass up!

I received my cover art for Veil book 1, Ruby: Uncut and on the Loose and I have to share it with y’all! I also got my final approvals and the book will be released by Siren Publishing on February 2!! Squee!!

So without further ado, here’s the cover:

The artist did a wonderful job in representing Ruby. You see, at the beginning of the story, Ruby undergoes a transformation that leaves her with magical powers and tattooed on her face and hands. The hero, Lucian…oh my. That body…yeah, she got Lucian as well.

I’m so excited about the upcoming release and will have some blog tour dates to share with you by Monday. If you’re looking for a guest blogger or someone to interview, I still have a few dates available. Drop me an e-mail at danica.avet@gmail.com if you’d like to host me. I have goodies to give away!

Let the games begin!
