Release Day for Root

I’m pleased to announce that Root (Band Nerd 2) is out today!

Blurb:

Until I joined the Marching 300 at Sauvage State University, I was just too-tall, tuba-playing Lena Leblanc. But college changes everything. Suddenly I have friends, and they won’t let me dodge the attraction I have for hulking, Viking-like football player Anders De Groot. He makes me feel; makes me believe that I’m more than a burden to others. That I’m more than just Lena. And for a girl whose mother checked out years ago, that’s the scariest feeling of all.

Before I met Lena, all I had was school and football; study and stadiums full of spectators cheering for “Root!” Now, I can’t get her out of my head. She’s everything I could possibly want in a woman and I need to prove to her how good we’ll be together. I need to show her that, no matter what, she’s perfection. My perfection. And I’ll stand my ground to make sure nothing ever hurts her. Not even her family.

See what I mean? How can he even be real? So impossibly sweet and hot? But with my stepfather threatening us, I’ll have to learn how to step up and fight for what I want. Otherwise I’ll lose the greatest thing to ever happen to me.

By the way, if you haven’t picked up Steady (Band Nerd 1) yet, be sure to do that soon. It’s on sale for just .99 until October 7th to celebrate the release of the second book in the series!

Everyone may call me “Steady” but recently my life has been all chaos. I went from Shaun Decker, NFL star, to being forced to retire and finding out my wife’s having an affair. Coaching for the Sauvage Spartans’ football program will be perfect for getting my life back on track. Then a delicious woman named Katie literally falls into my lap and then, after the best sex of my life, disappears.

I’m Katherine Frost, band nerd turned band director and, oh, apparently a magnet for married men. Discovering I’m the other woman already had me rethinking my life, then my one-night stand turns out to be married too. Gah! I want nothing to do with men ever again. Especially tall, handsome, bearded men named Shaun. I thought taking up a teaching position at Sauvage State was a strategic exit, stage left, but it’s looking more like going from the frying pan into the fire.

Hey, Shaun again. Don’t let her kid you. Fate puts people in the right place at the right time because they’re meant for each other. Football and marching bands go together, just like me and Katie. I just need to convince her of that.

I’m feverishly working to finish Dasher’s story so I can submit it to my publisher in time for the holidays. After that? Well, who knows? Maybe (just maybe) wrap up my sci-fi serial. But never fear, there will be plenty more Band Nerd books in 2017!

Love,

Danica

Dean’s List Release Day Fantasies

Woot! I love Release Day! I’ll love this one even more if I manage to avoid jury duty, but that’s a story for another day.

Right now, it’s all about my hero Dean and his bevy of beauties. We all have fantasies. I think I talked about this somewhere…*frown* I feel as though I wrote that line in an interview or a guest blog…oh well. But we do. Like, I keep having this recurring dream that the Wayans brothers will knock on my door (as well as every other lady in the Cabal) and ask if they can make a movie out of our Fondled and Gobbled spoofs. And our stories will be on the big screen in all their messy, hilarious glory. Either that, or we’ll be banned from a dozen countries for being too outrageous and then we’ll become notorious and everyone will want us to write more spoofs and I’d finally be able to hire a pool boy. I don’t have a pool, nor do I plan to have one but I want a pool boy.

Okay, I have more realistic fantasies. I have sexual fantasies, I have rich and famous fantasies, I have Please-let-me-sleep-until-6-in-the-morning fantasies. But the bottom line is I have them. I don’t act on all of them, or many of them, but I have them as does everyone else. Dean and his women act on his fantasies. And theirs. They live them out in vivid, sexy detail and I was just the hapless writer who got it down on paper.

So here’s to Dean and his women *toast* I hope everyone who decides to give this story a chance, enjoys it in the same spirit it was written. And to get us in the mood…here’s a little Ludacris to enjoy while you tell me: What is your fantasy? (It doesn’t have to be sexual or naughty, just something simple.) Don’t forget I’m taking part in THREE, yes three giveaways this week! The What In The World Is Danica Thinking giveaway (win Danica Avet swag), the Big Cocks and Shamrocks Blog Hop (Swag, books and a grand prize!) and the Dean’s List Scavenger Hunt ($50 gift card and a copy of Dean’s List). Stop by to enter!

Release Day Fantasy Man

Today isn’t our average Friday. Oh no, it’s Release Day for Primal Song! Wooooooooo! Can you hear me screaming from there? Seriously, y’all, I am hyped up, ready to get this show on the road.

Why do I suddenly have the urge to say, “We love you Detroit! Goodnight!” Heh. I guess the guys from Saber (my fictional band) have influenced me more than I realized.

*calms down* Okay, that isn’t working. I’m giddy. I love release days. It’s one of the best highs of being a writer. You work for months on a story, polish it until it shines and let it go. Fly, be free, little book! And you pray it doesn’t take a nosedive. But even that fear adds its own weird rush to the joy of having a new book out.

When I got the release date, I looked at the calendar and thought, “How cool is that? It’s coming out on a Friday!” And we all know what Fridays are about here on Unearthly Musings. The menz. Fridays are about sexy menz and their sexy bodies and their ripped abs and bulging um, everything heh.

So I found a man who closely resembles what I imagine Ram to look like. You probably think he’s all golden blond hair and all, but he isn’t. This is what I picture him like when he’s trying to seduce Daisy:

Oh yeah…nom, nom, nom, gimme some! Daisy is a lucky witch to have this hunk of gorgeous to come home to. Well, once they work out their problems, but wouldn’t you give things a shot if you had this man waiting for you, all sexy rock star and testosterone? Hell, I’m not sure I’d ever leave him alone. I’d be all grabby hands and drool. Okay, maybe not the drool…unless he was doing a Magic Mike dance for me. Then it’s on!

Happy Friday y’all. If you get the chance, check out my release day party over at Close Encounters with the Night Kind and enter to win prizes! Unfortunately, this guy is not part of the giveaway. Even if I did have him to give away, I certainly wouldn’t. Heh.

Release Day Strip Off

Woot! Today’s the release of You Bet Your Banshee (The Three Kingdoms) and I’m so excited about it that I’m giving away a copy to one lucky commenter. But first, did you know there’s still time to win a copy of Keyboards and Kink Anthology which releases from Evernight this Friday. Just visit as many of the author blog sites participating in the blog hop for a chance to win!

And now on to the banshee release day song. This month is all about stripping/taking your clothes off for What’s Playing Wednesdays. I know, it isn’t my regular fair and I’m sure someone will be very put out with me for the objectification of women, but the heroine of You Bet Your Banshee is a stripper. She became one as a way to make fast money. Did I mention she’s also a banshee on the run which means she can’t exactly get a job where paperwork is required? Or that she has a very unique skill that makes her a good stripper? Yeah, well, she does.

So when I was thinking about a theme for What’s Playing Wednesdays, I realized there are a lot of songs out there about stripping, taking your clothes off, etc. and decided that was the direction I needed to take in honor of Magda.

Today’s offering is Wyclef Jean’s “Perfect Gentleman”. I really do like this song and when it came out, I was immediately hooked. It’s fun, it’s interesting, and well, just because she dances from pole to pole, it don’t make her a ho, no. Which is exactly how I portrayed Magda.

So, to win a copy of You Bet Your Banshee, just tell me what your name would be if you were an exotic dancer. Would you go for something traditional, or something else? The contest will remain open until midnight June 10th and the winner announced on Monday, June 11. And don’t try to tell me you’ve never given any thought to stripping, even if it’s only in your own home. I’ll also be over at Stacey Espino’s blog tomorrow with another chance to win, so be sure to check back for the link!

What’s a banshee to do when she’s sentenced to death because of her inability to cry? Move to Earth and become a stripper, of course. For ten years, Magda O’Quinn has lived on Earth, supporting herself with her butt-shaking skills and hiding from the banshee queen who wants her death, before she discovers people are hunting her who won’t stop until she’s back in Fairworld.

The first to find her is hunky Halfling, Ryvan Keller, an agent of the fairy queen. The attraction Magda feels for him is panty-wetting to be sure, but there’s no way she’ll give in to her attraction and meekly follow him back into the hell of Fairworld. She’ll have to battle extreme lust for a sexy Halfling, fall in love, and defeat an evil queen before she can get back to the business of having a life again.

Remaking The Eurythmics

Happy release day to me…Happy release day to me…Happy release day to meeeeeeee, Happy release day to me! Y’all are totally singing along, aren’t you? Sorry for the earworm.

But in case you didn’t realize, today is release day for my fourth Veil book, Ain’t No Bull. Yay! For those of you who have been following this blog for a while,  you’ll recognize this story as the Amazon and Minotaur romance. Yes, I know. Minotaurs? Seriously?  You bet! My hero is a minotaur. He’s half-man, half-bull. Sometimes. Other times, he’s a bull. And still other times, he’ s smexy blond with a naughty smile. *le sigh*

Anyway, this isn’t all about my book. Today is also a continuation of the summer remake series. Going along with the topic of writing and release days, I picked today’s remake because writing is a dream for me. I always aspired to it, but never thought it would go anywhere. Imagine my surprise when it did and it seems that some people actually like the stuff I’ve written. *blinks* I know. Weird, huh?

So today’s remake is “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)”. Originally performed by the Eurythmics in the early 80s, this song got a remake in the 90s by a highly unlikely band. Yup, I’m sure you all know who I’m talking about. Marilyn Manson remade this song, making it darker, edgier, and altogether more disturbing than it originally was. It’s kind of interesting how Marilyn Manson has remade so many 80s hits. Were you aware that they’ve remade “Tainted Love” and “Personal Jesus”? I guess good ole Marilyn is a big fan of the 80s, but then again, who isn’t when it comes to the music?

Since today is my release day, I’ll be giving away a PDF copy of my newest book, Ain’t No Bull, to a lucky commenter. You can answer one of two questions: What do you think of the remake? Or what’s your dream?

Release Day Music

Hey y’all! I can barely hear you over the loud music roaring in my ears. It’s Release Day over here in Danica Land and I let the heroine of my third Veil book, Lifestyles of the Fey and Dangerous have at the music player.

I’ll be discussing Noelani Fayard, aka Shade, aka Lani, in greater depth on my group blog, Four Foxes One Hound. Stop by to learn more about her. I will tell you this much, Lani’s story is darker than the other two books in the Veil Series. I suppose it was bound to happen considering she’s an assassin and her hero is none other than former Eturian general, Malachi Cromwell.

The music on my playlist for this book was darker, edgier than the other books. I mean…Lani would’ve probably killed me if I broke out the ABBA to write her story! Instead, I had to depend on my heavy metal to get me through, which is what she’s making me play for y’all today.

The band is called The Used and the song, appropriately enough for an assassin, is called Blood On My Hands. The video is a bit gruesome, but the song kicks ass, especially for Lani and Malachi’s story.

Oh and she won’t let me forget this part. In honor of her release day, we’d like to give away a mask painted especially for Lifestyles of the Fey and Dangerous as well as a set of romance trading cards (www.romancetradingcards.come) for the entire series. Leave a comment for a chance to win!

Special What’s Playing Wednesday

Well, it’s finally here. Release Day! That’s right, folks. Ruby: Uncut and on the Loose is now out through Siren Publishing.

I’m actually a lot calmer than I thought I would be. Of course, that might have more to do with me waking up at 4 this morning to work out and forcefully calm myself. I’m sending my little book into the wild with the hopes it isn’t maimed.

There’s a lot going on today besides it being my Release Day (sorry, but I simply have to write it like that…it looks more important and official that way, doesn’t it?). I’m blogging over at the group blog, Four Foxes, One Hound about my thoughts on romance. I’m also going to be over at Southern Sizzle Romance for Wetsday and I’ll be giving away another prize, so check it out.

And now for What’s Playing Wednesday. Unfortunately, Danica’s Magical Music Player didn’t have quite the right song for today. I toyed with the notion of posting Kool & The Gang’s Celebration, but it didn’t seem quite right either. I had to delve deep into my mind for the perfect song to express my happiness for today and then I remembered one of my favorite cartoons.

Yes, when I was in high school and college, my sister (who is 8 years older), my brother-in-law (who’s 10 years older), and I would wake up bright and early to catch The Ren & Stimpy Show. Is it any wonder I had to choose the Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy Song? I think it suits my mood perfectly!

So here you go:

I’m so glad to have had you wonderful folks with me during this struggle to publication. I couldn’t have done it without you and your encouraging comments through the last couple of years.
