Being the last male standing isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. Mikah Malloy is living proof. His mother and father were both killed during their individual attempts to assassinate the pride leader of Ariel Estates, Silas Murdoch. Now after the dust has settled on his bloodstained family’s name, Mikah must face life alone among his fellow lion shifters. But Silas and his mate, Theo, have decided a vacation in Alaska is just what the doctor ordered to help Mikah come to terms with his grief and his plans for the future. The only snag with their plan is trouble always has a way of finding Mikah, no matter where he runs.
Gideon Haven, eldest son of the Haven pack’s alpha, would give his soul for a way off the ice. But when a hunter is out to eradicate his pack one by one, skinning them alive for their wolf pelts, Gideon can’t just walk away.
The predators have now become the prey, but they’re determined to hunt down the poacher out to slaughter Theo and Gideon’s pack. As for Mikah, he’s more than ready for the job. Putting one’s life on the line isn’t a hardship when you don’t care whether you live or die. The heat between Gideon and Mikah becomes nearly impossible to resist, yet Mikah is determined the tenacious wolf isn’t about to get close enough to break the ice around his heart.

“Easy,” a male crooned, yet this voice didn’t carry a murderous edge in its tone. “Easy, fella.” His rescuer neared Gideon’s side, yet the angle of Gideon’s head was wrong so he couldn’t see the newcomer’s face. “The coward ran, but I think my bullet may have grazed his shoulder.”
The stranger spoke to him as if he believed the wolf understood his words. Did he, like the poacher, somehow know Gideon was a shifter? The rustle of winter clothes told Gideon the male had moved closer.
“You’re safe now,” he added, his tone soothing.
The male’s fingers slid through the fur near Gideon’s head, sparking nerve endings. What the hell? If Gideon could have uttered a sound, he would have groaned under the contact. Who was this guy?
“Can you hear me?” The man leaned forward, and his face finally came into view.
The air in Gideon’s lung stalled.
Beneath a navy skullcap, dark chocolate eyes fringed with long sooty lashes stared into his. A broad, yet straight nose led to a perfectly carved full mouth that, even in his precarious state, had Gideon’s blood stirring. Inhaling deep, Gideon blinked in response. That’s when the other male’s scent slammed into Gideon’s senses. An exotic blend of cinnamon and sandalwood teased his nostrils and had his mouth watering. Could the guy possibly taste as good as he smelled? In a different place and time, what he would give to run his tongue along the swell of the male’s lower lip and find out for himself. Hell, who was he kidding? He wanted to sink his teeth in for a bite and make his dark-eyed savior groan until Gideon decided to lick away the sting. He inhaled once more for another sweet and decadent whiff. There was something else, a familiar mix in the stranger’s pheromones.
I’ll be damned.
But this male was no wolf. Gideon had smelled those particular molecules before. With his cousin Theo’s mate. A lion.
