Post 1,000 Woo-Hoo

Here it is! The 1000th post on my blog.

Seems like it should be more impressive than that, doesn’t it? Hm. Well, I can’t exactly give y’all fireworks and mostly naked men dancing around, but I do have a giveaway scheduled.

First though, let me just say that it’s been a wild ride. Blogging isn’t all that easy when you’ve been doing it a while because you don’t want to start regurgitating posts. Which I think I’ve done a few times. I’ve blogged about writing, getting through the rejection process, getting an agent and losing an agent. I’ve blogged about sexy men. Lots and lots of sexy men. I’ve even interviewed several of them. By the way those were some of my most visited posts. I also blogged about life in south Louisiana, shared some Cajun French with y’all. That’s the set of second most viewed posts. Yup, seems everyone is curious about how to pronounce things or what have you.

Secondly, I have the best friends ever. The writing community is amazing. Simply amazing. I’ve met a lot of wonderful people on my road to publication, through the rocky pass of being a published writer and everything in between. If you ever embark on this same wild ride, be sure to surround yourself with people who will tell you like it is, but do it with their shoulder and a bottle of booze handy, who won’t run you down to make themselves feel better, and who’ll understand what you mean when you start talking about the voices in your head talking to you while you’re taking a shower and not think you’re insane.

So saying all that…here’s the giveaway. I have several of these awesome people offering up prizes. Be sure to enter and tell your friends.
a Rafflecopter giveaway

And because it’s What’s Playing Wednesday…I just gotta share this song with y’all. Because it says everything. Let’s get this party started!

Winners

Well, well, we made it through Monday mostly unscathed. At least I think we did. I so overslept today and I did it in an awkward position which means I’m limping since my hip hurts like the Dickens. And if you’ve ever read Dickens, you’ll understand why it hurts. No offense to you Dickens lovers…but really? Ouch.

As most of y’all know, we had a big blog hop going on. Yup, the Big Cocks & Broomsticks Blog Hop to celebrate Halloween, the Cabal of Hotness and just being goofy. We chose our winners and they’ve been mailed. Now to wait  for their responses which will probably be “Yippee skippy!” or something like that.

The Grand Prize ($100 gc to Amazon or Barnes & Noble) goes to Val Denis.

Second place ($50 gc to Amazon or B&N) goes to Joey Ross.

Third place ($25 gc to Amazon or B&N) goes to Shelley Monro.

First off, we had so much fun with this hop and it’s always a pleasure to meet so many new people! Really it is. Secondly, I hope most of everyone sticks around because with the Cabal of Hotness, there’s no telling what we’ll come up with next. Honestly, I don’t even know what we’re doing next…mostly because those bitches are crazy. Y’all hear?

Oh! And I had a giveaway here on my blog as well. Random.org chose…

Jasmyn Novachek as the winner of the Danica Avet fleece blanket! Yay!

So glad everyone participated in the giveaway and if you’re looking for more goodies to win, be sure to “like” me on Facebook. I hold monthly giveaways known as Fan Appreciation Giveaways. This month I’m giving away gift cards to help with holiday shopping.

Oh and in case I haven’t mentioned it, I’m also holding a giveaway here on the blog when I hit my 1,000 blog post! I have prizes from a large group of writers who are most awesome. Among a few,  you can expect to win books from Cynthia Eden, Lea Barrymire, A.M. Griffin, Lucy Felthouse, Cara Carnes, Cassandra Carr, Cristal Ryder, Amy Ruttan, Anya Richards, Denise Tompkins, Kari Gregg, um…Sky Robinson, Piper Trace, swag and prizes from Jillian Chantal, Tara Nina and gosh, there are even more authors who I’m sorry to say I forget at the moment. Needless to say it’s a cornucopia of romance! Yay! So look for that giveaway to happen…um, next week most likely. I’ll start the actual countdown to the 1,000 blog post tomorrow.

Peace out!

The Busy Bee

As y’all know, I’m on my virtual blog tour this week into next week. I know, it’s so much fun! I love scattering my ramblings all over the interwebz. It makes me feel like I’m entertaining millions…okay, maybe a dozen people, but still! It’s better than entertaining myself.

Today, I’m over at Bab’s Book Bistro, so be sure to stop by!

But that isn’t the only thing going on this week. Nope, not by a long shot. If you weren’t aware yet, I’m on a couple of group blogs and this week is the start of another group blog!

You can find me on Wednesdays at Four Foxes One Hound (http://fourfoxesonehound.wordpress.com) where I, along with Micki Gibson, Jillian Chantal, Jeff Salter, and Lynn Rush talk about anything and everything.

One Thursday a month, I’m hanging out with the gee/k/ink (http://geekandkink.com) ladies talking about anything and everything having to do with being geeky and kinky. I’m joined by the awesome Daisy Harris, Charlotte Stein, Delphine Dryden, Sommer Marsden, and Christine d’Abo.

And now, every other Monday, I’m over at Darker Temptations! I’ll be joining Cynthia Eden, Sayde Grace, Marcella Burnard, Kristin Miller, Rebecca Zanetti, Katie Reus, and Erin Kellison. This blog is jam-packed with paranormal romance writers and I have no doubt there will be a lot of discussion about…well, paranormal stuff, LOL The blog goes live on September 1st so I hope some of y’all will stop over and say “hi” 🙂

If you’re ever in dire need of amusement, join me at one of these locations because I can promise you, I don’t surround myself by boring people. They all have something interesting, informative, or downright hysterical to say.

And as if any of this wasn’t enough, I’m attending the Heather Graham’s Writers for New Orleans book signing on Sunday. If you’re in the area, stop by to say ‘Hi!’ I really don’t want to sit there twiddling my thumbs wishing I was Angie Fox or Heather Graham.

What A Release!

Okay, so I don’t really have anything to blog about today. I rejected several ideas all morning long and finally decided I’d pimp some friends out (because I’m a good book pimp like that).

This week is a book release frenzy, so I hope you have a paper and pen ready to take notes!

First off, Rebecca Zanetti’s debut release, Fated comes out today from Kensington Publishing! If you remember, Rebecca was nice enough to stop by last week for an interview (which I had so much fun with) and a giveaway. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones to win an ARC (like me), I recommend you go out and buy Fated.

MARRY ME

Cara Paulsen does not give up easily.  A scientist and a single mother, she’s used to doing whatever it takes to protect her daughter.  But “Whatever it takes” has never before included a shotgun wedding to a dangerous stranger with an attitude problem…
                                    OR ELSE

Sure, the mysterious Talen says that he’s there to protect Cara and her daughter.  He also says that he’s a three-hundred-year-old vampire.  Of course, the way he touches her, Cara might actually believe he’s had that long to practice…

Next up, is Cynthia Eden’s release in the Deadly Series, Deadly Lies out from Grand Central Publishing. Cynthia is a cool lady with some really great books you won’t want to miss!

She wants to hide the past…

FBI Special Agent Samantha Kennedy is haunted by memories of the serial killer who abducted her. To keep the darkness at bay, she pretends to be a different, more confident woman. This Samantha doesn’t fear every unknown face. So she throws caution to the wind and shares a night of unbridled passion with a handsome stranger.

He needs to uncover the truth

One night isn’t enough for successful entrepreneur Max Ridgeway. He wants more of the sexy, smart, mysterious woman who slipped away before dawn. When they meet again, their attraction is undeniable—until his stepbrother goes missing, and Max realizes that Samantha isn’t who she seems. But they must trust each other to trap a ring of blood-thirsty kidnappers before the nightmares that terrorize Sam become irrevocably real.

As a merciless criminal spins a web of . . .

DEADLY LIES

Then we have the release dates of the Sizzler ladies! Jillian Chantal’s second book with Siren Publishing, Surfer Bride, is being released today and trust me, this is one lady who can make you drown in her story (bwahaha, so did not intend that pun!). *snicker* Okay, getting back to the book! You have to pick it up. Her heroes are muy caliente!

Quincy Holt, a world champion surfer, was in love with a police officer, Fennimore Smith. He dumped her over a rumor that she cheated on him. Two years later, she’s moved on and is engaged to Percy Hicks, a British man that she believes could make her happy. Quincy thinks her fiancé is an antiques dealer but he’s actually a firearms smuggler. A smuggler being investigated by her former lover, now an ATF agent. When Percy’s private plane full of weapons is confiscated while Quincy is aboard and she’s arrested for arms dealing, Fennimore Smith flies to Bali to rescue her and get her to testify against Percy. She turns him down as she has plans of her own. She sets off to London on a quest to trap her fiancé and bring him down. Will she survive her mission? Will her former lover have to rescue her again?

And last, but not least, is the amazing Sayde Grace’s first book in the Moonlight Cravings Series, Untamable which is being released on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Don’t let Sayde’s innocent southern lady looks fool you, this book is hot and a paranormal at that! You don’t want to miss it!

Waking up tattooed, mated and a werewolf would shock most people but for Siddalee Brighton it’s just another day.

Siddalee has always held a burning hunger for her best friend, werewolf Jasper Gandillion. But she never realized what belonging to the animal within him would mean until he marks her in a show of passion and dominance, awakening the werewolf inside her. Siddalee was the first of many illegal breeding experiments that the Luna Werewolf Nation Alpha, Dane Velham, created and the only one strong enough to stop the monster from torturing other women and creating more experiments.

So with all of these great books released this week, you shouldn’t have a problem finding something sizzling hot to read!

What’s Playing Wednesday

It’s time for another What’s Playing Wednesday. Before I get to that though, I have to announce the winner from yesterday’s giveaway over at Jillian Chantal’s blog. The random.org generator was quick today, picking comment #1. The winner is….Lynn Rush! Lynn, drop me an e-mail with your physical address and I’ll ship your mask to you this weekend 🙂

There’s still one more chance to win one of the masks painted exclusively for Ruby’s book. Tomorrow I’ll be over at the amazing Avril Ashton’s blog with another interview and giveaway. Be sure to stop by for the last giveaway for this blog tour.

Oh, and I’m also over at the FF&P blog talking about secondary characters. Stop by for my goofy historical romance scenario!

Now for what’s playing on Danica’s Magical Music Player. Last week’s song was one of those heart-felt love songs. Some people said it was depressing, others said they simply had to add it to their playlists. I was hoping the Magical Music Player would give me a more upbeat song, but it didn’t. I think it’s still stuck in the big hair band days because today’s song is none other than Silent Lucidity by Queensryche.

This song came out in the late 80’s, but it’s such a powerfully emotional song. I loved it, but not as much as my sister did. She was pregnant with her eldest when this song came out and every time she heard it, she’d start crying. Not because she was sad, but I think it was because she felt the stirrings of maternal love and protectiveness.

Now every time I hear this song, I picture my eldest nephew as an infant with his sweet little face and great big eyes. I see him as a toddler, as a little boy with an annoyingly high-pitched scream, as a sassy teenager, and as a handsome young man with a crazy sense of humor.

This song is for Patrick. I love you, Patty-melt.

Do you remember this song from the 80’s? What do you remember about it?

Where’s the Love

It’s Valentine’s Day. To a single person, this means it’s just another day. Since I’m single, I had to actually look at the calendar to see that yes, it is Valentine’s Day. It’s also Monday. How romantic could that possibly be?

I’m wondering if Valentine’s Day should be moved to the Saturday or Sunday before the 14th, that way couples can spend an entire day together instead of having to wait until the working hours are over. I’m not bitter about the holiday, far from it. I like the idea of a day for lovers. I am a romance writer after all.

Luckily, I have no bad memories of past Valentine’s Days. All of my relationships have taken place between the spring and winter. Hm, how weird is that? I suppose it’s a good thing though. Otherwise, I might hold a grudge against the day.

As for my romantic views, I’ve mentioned many times before that I’m not a sappy romantic. Yes, I write romance and there are moments of high drama, but for the most part, I avoid the sticky sweetness some consider romance.

I love flowers, but I like to get them for an accomplishment instead of just a day you’re supposed to receive them. It’s almost an obligation for a lover to send flowers on Valentine’s Day. How is that special?I prefer to receive flowers when it’s something life-changing. Like release day, or a milestone birthday, or a publishing contract.

I adore chocolate, but I won’t wait until today to get them. Oh, hells no. There are times when a woman needs chocolate and waiting for one day out of the year to get them would be my idea of torture.

Jewelry is nice, but I don’t wear any except my tongue ring and my thumb ring. Those aren’t terribly romantic, places for jewelry. I did receive a heart-shaped locket necklace one year and I treasured it. Until the petals fell off the bloom. Now it sits in a jewelry box with all of the other things I don’t wear.

Sitting in front of a fireplace would only make me want to throw things in it. I have a touch of the fire bug and I love to build fires (legally, of course). I’d be too easily mesmerized by the flames to pay attention to my lover. Unless he was Gerard Butler. Then I’d make him sit in front of the fireplace so I could see both him and the flames 😉

Romance me with books, with intelligent conversation, laughter, and a nice meal. I don’t need all the trappings most consider necessary for this day of the year. They’re too quaint, too normal for my tastes.

What do you consider romantic? Are you a traditional romantic, or do you like something different?

Before I let you go, just a little reminder that tomorrow I’ll be over at Jillian Chantal’s blog with an interview and giveaway. Then on Thursday, I’m over at Avril Ashton’s blog for another interivew and giveaway. These are the last two on the tour, so I hope you’ll stop by for a chance to win!
