Lovely Friday

I started off this week sick as a dog, but I’m so glad it’s Friday I could almost dance. Almost because this girl does not have the moves like Jagger. Not at all.

Of course because it’s finally the end of the week, it means I’m about to start up yet another week of training. That’s a good thing, right? Learning is always good. If I can keep my eyes open. The only really great thing I can think of to make up for being away from home and my bed a whole week is I get to spend it with my aunt and uncle. I’ve already put in my request for as much kimchee, bulgogi and other Korean dishes as I can possibly think of. Oh yeah, Danica is going to eat well next week.

The worst part of having been sick this week is I didn’t really get to celebrate the release of my erotic menage, Sweetest Taste of Sin. Sure, I posted about it on Twitter and Facebook, but I didn’t do the whole Happy Release Day to me! thing I normally do. So I’m going to do that now.

Yay! Happy Belated Release Day to me!

Okay. Phew, glad that’s over. Well not really. I’m going to post the blurb and buy links as well as my Friday song. *think* I had a few on tap when I started this post but I think it’ll have to be the song that made me think of the title for this short story. Ne-Yo’s “Closer” is such a good dance song and of course it gave me the idea for the book.

And here it is…Sweetest Taste of Sin.

SweetestTasteofSinARe

Logan Guillory finally has what she’s always wanted, a loving, sizzling relationship with J.B. Calhoun. So why can’t she shake her overwhelming need for his twin brother Anthony? Her small town morals tell her it’s not normal to love two men with equal fervor, but not even the risk of damaging her standing in Grand Terre, Louisiana can make her stop wanting to be possessed by them both.

Anthony ‘Ant’ Calhoun had his eye on Logan long before his brother entered the picture, but now he’s lost his chance, or so he thinks. J.B. has other ideas, which includes sharing Logan’s sensual caresses and big heart with his brother. Torn between overwhelming need and fear of the scandal that might ensue, Ant resists with all his might, but doesn’t stand a chance against the needs of the two people he loves most.

Giving in threatens everything they all hold dear, but who can resist the sweetest taste of sin?

Yay for Friday

Can we say thank goodness? I mean really, I never thought Friday would come.

It’s been a busy, crazy week. And it’s about to get crazier with day job stuff. I have several training seminars coming up, one that lasts three days and the other that’ll be a whole week. That means no computer time at all. Just hope I don’t fall asleep and wake up in a puddle of drool from being bored to death. But it’s for a good cause, right? Yeah. Right.

Monday I’m releasing the first book in the Southern Sin trilogy which is part of the Grand Terre world I built for my Crushes to Cravings series. I’m really excited about it to be honest. Sweetest Taste of Sin is my first non-spoof menage and it’s pretty sexy. My website is being a pain right now, so I can’t update it, but here’s the blurb:

My plans for this weekend? Writing if I can find the time, updating my website even if I have to take a hammer to it and getting Sweetest Taste of Sin ready to for publishing on Monday.

And because I watched Magic Mike last weekend…twice *cough*, I’ve had this song stuck in my head. I can’t help it. It’s really one of the few songs I like by KISS except now when I hear it, I see Matthew McConaughey stripping and I sort of zone out. What? So I have a weakness for southern men with lean, muscled bodies and more oil on their skin than fried chicken. So what? *sniff*

Happy Friday y’all!

Friday Fun

Well, it’s fun for me, not so much for Atlanta fans. Sorry guys.

I didn’t get much sleep last night because I wasn’t going to bed until the final second ticked off the clock in the 4th quarter of the Saints-Falcons game. Call me paranoid, but too much happens in the last few seconds of the games, especially this season. But we pulled out a win and woo-woo! 9-2 baby! Now we just have to battle Seattle next week. *sigh*

Not going to talk about football this entire post, promise. I probably lost some of y’all at the first sentence. Your eyes glazed over, drool started to pool at the corner of your mouths and the rest of this blog post will be lost. Ah well. Sorry about that.

However, since the Saints played last night, that means I’m reasonably free on Sunday. I’ll still end up watching as many games as I can. That Denver-New England game promises to be a good one, but because my boys aren’t playing, I can work. Yeah, fun right? Meh. Eh, actually it isn’t all that bad. I have a book to edit and another one to finish in order to meet my year-end goals. So I can start 2014 with a clean slate. No works in progress, no half-finished stories that are driving me crazy. I can kick off January with a new book and let it flow.

At least that’s the theory. Not sure how it’ll work but I’m going to give it the old college try!

That means this weekend is dedicated to writing. So is the day before Thanksgiving and the weekend after Thanksgiving. If I’m not in a tryptophan coma. Making a note to myself now: Don’t gorge on turkey. Eat the Korean food. We’ll see if that sticks.

The song I chose to kick off the weekend sounds pretty epic. It’s Avenged Sevenfold’s newest single “Shepard of Fire”. I really like it and it puts me in the mood to write. Win-win situation!

Happy Friday, y’all!

Bad Girls

I’ve been such a bad blogger this year. I’m sure when I get to the last post of the year, I’ll think “But I didn’t blog much this year!” because I haven’t. Maybe it’s a natural part of diving deeper into my writing. Which I haven’t been doing. Or maybe it’s just laziness. Whatever it is, I do apologize for not blogging as much as I used to.

I’m trying to fix that. It might even be a New Year’s Resolution. Which I never follow anyway. Oh well, looks like y’all are out of luck!

This is going to be a busy weekend, by the way. This afternoon, I’m heading to Lake Charles, Louisiana for the Ellora’s Cave show and book signing with some great Cavemen. You can tell I’ve been waiting for this for a while, right? I was so concerned back when I found out when it was because of the shoulder. But I know if I can fly to Ohio to be crazy at RomantiCon, I can definitely cheer and go crazy over the dancers. *cough*

Once I get back to town tomorrow, I’ve got to jet to my nephew’s 2nd birthday party. He’s so darn cute I could just eat him up with a little spoon! I can’t be late for that, so chances are I’ll be sleep deprived when I get there tomorrow. Add onto that edits I’m expecting from my CPs and it looks like I won’t be getting any rest this weekend. But hey, how does that saying go? No rest for the wicked? And I can be very, very wicked when I want to. 😉

So to come back to the title of this post…Because tonight’s show is going to be hunky men doing their thing on the stage, it’s going to be great. And although this song is so played out because of Bridget Jones’ Diary and I think it was in Magic Mike as well, it’s perfect for the craziness that’s sure to go down tonight.

This is my Freaky on Friday song dedicated to the Cavemen show tonight. I hope to do a full RomantiCon blog post next week, so look for it!

Let Your Hair Down

Happy Friday! Woo-hoo!! Is anyone else doing the happy dance like me? If not, I’ll do it for you. I can’t believe how intense this week has been, but I’m ready for it to end already.

Of course because it’s the start of the weekend, I have to share my plans. Because you must have a plan for the next two days even if it looks like this:

1. Sleep
2. Wake up
3. Shower
4. Go back to sleep

Hey, I’ve had weekends like that. This weekend though, I’m going to continue chugging away at my superhero story. I’m sooo close. Like this close -><- to finishing it and sending  it off to be used and abused by my beta readers and CPs. I think it’s good. Oh man, is it good. Probably the most painfully dark thing I’ve ever written, but sometimes when I write stories like that, I leave a lot of important stuff out. You know, like things other than the intense emotion I want to convey. Like…”Is this position even possible? Because I don’t think it is…”

Yeah, that’s why we all need people to read our stuff before we send it anywhere near an editor or agent.

Oh and I’m mailing stuff. A lot of stuff. Swag for RomantiCon, swag for a basket, swag, swag, swag. If you want some Romance Trading Cards, drop me an email at danica(dot)avet(at)gmail(dot)com and I’ll send you some of my RTCs before they go in the box to RomantiCon. For the Ellora’s Cave conference, I have more shot glasses, compact mirrors and some brand new swag that are shammy coasters. They’re coasters that can also be used as shammys to absorb spills. I thought it was a cool idea and I hope readers like them as well. I’d offer to send those but I had them all shipped directly to Ellora’s Cave. If I have any left from the convention, I’ll let y’all know.

Did I mention football? Yeah, doing that too. Although after that last game, I might have to rethink watching. I’m not sure my heart can take it. *shudders*

Anyway, it’s Friday. Y’all don’t want to hear about my aches and pains and plans for the weekend, you want to get in the mood for your own fun, right? How about some 80s rock inspired music? You the kind I’m talking about. It makes you pretend you can hit falsetto notes and all you manage to do is sound like a dying cat. Yeah, I’m talking about The Darkness’ “I Believe In A Thing Called Love”.

Great earworm for Friday, don’t you think?

Kicking It Old Skool

It’s Friday! Yay! Is everyone jumping up and down with happiness? I am. And not just because last night Peyton Manning got me 120 points in my fantasy football league. Oh no, I’m happy because it’s Friday and I can write this weekend. Okay, I’m only writing on Saturday because Sunday is more football, but I have planz y’all.

But there’s more going on than football. I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true. First of all, the Living Dangerously Scavenger Hunt Blog Hop is still going on and you don’t want  to miss that! I’m even giving away reader’s choice of my backlist of books, which is small potatoes compared to the grand prize. Be sure to check it out!

And as if that isn’t enough, I’m holding a Fan Appreciation giveaway on my Facebook fan page. All you have to do is be a member of my fan page (which happens to boast some hot men). I’ll pick a random person at the end of the month to win some swag. Best thing about this giveaway is that it’ll take place every month, so there’s endless chances to win! Sweet, huh?

It isn’t as sweet as the song I’m pulling out of the vaults for y’all today. To be honest, I can’t take the credit for this week’s pick. When I was at physical therapy this week, my therapist was telling us about the fishing rodeo held on Grand Isle. He said, “You’ll never guess who played the rodeo the past two years…2 Live Crew.” I was shocked. I mean, I guess I figured they had their moment in the spotlight and disappeared like most groups in the 90s were supposed to. But apparently they’ve been performing here in Louisiana with Juvenile. Who knew?

Then this sweet 16-year-old girl asked, “Who’s 2 Live Crew?”

And I felt old because back in the day they were the baddest of the bad. Anyway, since that conversation, every morning I’ve gotten ready for work, I’ve been rapping this song. I was in 7th grade when it came out because I distinctly remember going to a sleepover and singing it with my friends. *shudders* God forbid if I heard my 11-year-old niece singing this song. I’d probably beat her ass.

So for all us oldies, here’s a Freaky on Friday song: 2 Live Crew with “Me So Horny”. I feel all…nostalgic and shit.

Um Yeah

I hope everyone has had a good week. I’m still trying to get back in the swing of things here at the evil day job. It would help if I could sleep through the night without waking up at least twice. But we all have our crosses to bear. This weekend though….Oh this weekend isn’t as innocent as last weekend. There’s no trivia night in sight. Nope. Seems that A.M. Griffin is going to be in town which means we’re going to go buck. Wild. In New Orleans.

I’ve warned Lea Barrymire she might get a phone call at some point asking for her to hit up the Cabal funds to bail us out of jail. I’ve even warned my sister she might get a call but she told me I was on my own since I wouldn’t let her stalk Peyton Manning. Whatever. Anyway, we’re going to be tearing it up in the Quarter this weekend. Just not too much I hope. I am still recovering from surgery. If we hit a strip club I can only wave my dollar bill with my left hand. Darn it.

But we’re not at the weekend yet. And it’s a three-day weekend at that which means most people are going to be kicking back chillin’ or sleeping as much as possible (the way I want to) or barbecuing and stuff. And you need inspiration to get down to your groovin’ or grilling or even your sleepin’. Which is why we’re have Freaky on Fridays.

Yup, it’s another chance for me to play DJ (and if you have songs you want to feature, let me know and I’ll add them to my list) and share songs that will kick off your weekend. Sexy songs, party songs, anything that I feel is a good way to start off your Friday night fun. I’ll also be including once a month guest posts. I’m working on getting my guests lined up now and hope to start that in September. It’ll be fun!

So…I’ll admit I changed my mind about what song I was going to play because I just heard it in the car and this song took me back to a time when I was sitting in a theater watching Channing Tatum hump a stage. It was the first time I ever found myself jealous of an inanimate object. I’ll also admit I only went to see Magic Mike for Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello. Until I saw Channing Tatum perform to this song. Is it superficial? Yes. But as Lea told me, at least I’m honest. Because holy snikey, but this song puts me in the mood. Like Pavlov’s dog, I associate it with uber sexiness.

Happy Friday y’all. Have a safe weekend and sit back, let this song work on your mind…and if you’ve seen Magic Mike…picture Channing Tatum dancing on you like a good bad boy. *sigh*
