Lovely Friday

I started off this week sick as a dog, but I’m so glad it’s Friday I could almost dance. Almost because this girl does not have the moves like Jagger. Not at all.

Of course because it’s finally the end of the week, it means I’m about to start up yet another week of training. That’s a good thing, right? Learning is always good. If I can keep my eyes open. The only really great thing I can think of to make up for being away from home and my bed a whole week is I get to spend it with my aunt and uncle. I’ve already put in my request for as much kimchee, bulgogi and other Korean dishes as I can possibly think of. Oh yeah, Danica is going to eat well next week.

The worst part of having been sick this week is I didn’t really get to celebrate the release of my erotic menage, Sweetest Taste of Sin. Sure, I posted about it on Twitter and Facebook, but I didn’t do the whole Happy Release Day to me! thing I normally do. So I’m going to do that now.

Yay! Happy Belated Release Day to me!

Okay. Phew, glad that’s over. Well not really. I’m going to post the blurb and buy links as well as my Friday song. *think* I had a few on tap when I started this post but I think it’ll have to be the song that made me think of the title for this short story. Ne-Yo’s “Closer” is such a good dance song and of course it gave me the idea for the book.

And here it is…Sweetest Taste of Sin.

SweetestTasteofSinARe

Logan Guillory finally has what she’s always wanted, a loving, sizzling relationship with J.B. Calhoun. So why can’t she shake her overwhelming need for his twin brother Anthony? Her small town morals tell her it’s not normal to love two men with equal fervor, but not even the risk of damaging her standing in Grand Terre, Louisiana can make her stop wanting to be possessed by them both.

Anthony ‘Ant’ Calhoun had his eye on Logan long before his brother entered the picture, but now he’s lost his chance, or so he thinks. J.B. has other ideas, which includes sharing Logan’s sensual caresses and big heart with his brother. Torn between overwhelming need and fear of the scandal that might ensue, Ant resists with all his might, but doesn’t stand a chance against the needs of the two people he loves most.

Giving in threatens everything they all hold dear, but who can resist the sweetest taste of sin?

The Sickness

It had me. I mentioned that last week, I think, but it got worse over the weekend. I medicated myself with cough syrup and had no luck so I carried my sick ass to the doctor on Monday for him to diagnose me with bronchitis and upper respiratory infection.

I’m finally back in the land of the living. Yay. I feel so much better. Life is about to get cray-cray with real life stuff. Mostly EDJ things I have to do like training and the like, but that’s okay. Right? It’s for a good cause. It just means I won’t be around as much until right before Christmas.

I know, don’t cry for me…er Argentina.

And because life is about to be crazy, I don’t have a lot of time to post anything terribly witty or meaningful. So to commemorate my life for the last four days, I picked DJ Kool’s “Let Me Clear My Throat”. Cause that’s what I’ve been doing. A lot.

Happy Wednesday!

Yay for Friday

Can we say thank goodness? I mean really, I never thought Friday would come.

It’s been a busy, crazy week. And it’s about to get crazier with day job stuff. I have several training seminars coming up, one that lasts three days and the other that’ll be a whole week. That means no computer time at all. Just hope I don’t fall asleep and wake up in a puddle of drool from being bored to death. But it’s for a good cause, right? Yeah. Right.

Monday I’m releasing the first book in the Southern Sin trilogy which is part of the Grand Terre world I built for my Crushes to Cravings series. I’m really excited about it to be honest. Sweetest Taste of Sin is my first non-spoof menage and it’s pretty sexy. My website is being a pain right now, so I can’t update it, but here’s the blurb:

My plans for this weekend? Writing if I can find the time, updating my website even if I have to take a hammer to it and getting Sweetest Taste of Sin ready to for publishing on Monday.

And because I watched Magic Mike last weekend…twice *cough*, I’ve had this song stuck in my head. I can’t help it. It’s really one of the few songs I like by KISS except now when I hear it, I see Matthew McConaughey stripping and I sort of zone out. What? So I have a weakness for southern men with lean, muscled bodies and more oil on their skin than fried chicken. So what? *sniff*

Happy Friday y’all!

Stuffy Heads and Dark Days

That’s not all doom and gloom by the way. I just have a bit of an allergy or sinus thing going on. I don’t know which and frankly, I don’t care because it means I can’t breathe properly, I sneeze at the wrong time and I cough as though I’m trying to expel a lung. The dark day is just a little hint of the crappy weather we’re dealing with here in south Louisiana. Meh.

But it’s not all bad. If things go as planned, Sweetest Taste of Sin will release next week. Things are moving on Touched by Lightning and I’m almost ready to start work on the fourth Cajun Heat book, tentatively named Primal Dance. Of course that means I have other characters crowding my head wanting their book written next, but whatever. They’ll just have to wait their turns. However, it does look as though 2014 is going to be a busy year for me in terms of writing. I’m not doing many conferences next year, just RomantiCon, but that’s such an epic conference, it makes up for anything else I might miss.

That’s next year though. I’m hoping I can use the month of December to find my zone and prepare for the onslaught. In other words, I might be lazy this month. Heh. Y’all know I like my lazy moments. Well, lazy in terms of writing. Real life is going to be busier than a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest.

Which brings me to today’s song. I heard it this morning and it’s one of those songs that both pumps me up. I have Motley Crue with “Kickstart My Heart”. I’m really not a big fan of the stuff they did in their later years, but this is a good song and a perfect way to kick off a dreary day.

Happy Wednesday, y’all!

THE INTERVIEW:

What item, or items, is absolutely necessary to your writing mojo? A favorite pen? Devil horns on a headband?

Cara: My computer. LOL. I write on a laptop, but I have a separate keyboard and wireless mouse that I must have. And I need a notebook to jot things down. In winter, I often wear fingerless gloves because my hands get cold. But I don’t have a special talisman to create a magical mojo.

Cynthia: Nutella! Cynthia Sax runs on this chocolate hazelnut goodness. One of these days, I’ll organize a huge Nutella-sponsored writer-reader world tour. We’ll go on the road, eating Nutella straight out of the jar, talking about books and creating havoc wherever we stop. That’s the dream!

Other than Nutella, I have no rituals. I’ll change anything and everything to coax the muse out of hiding. If a story isn’t working on the screen, I’ll handwrite a few scenes. If the handwriting in blue isn’t working, I’ll write in hot pink. I’ll turn on or off music, listen to country, rock, opera, rap.

A.M. Griffin: None. I used to play with one of my son’s toys while I wrote. It had a calming effect. But as you know, if I had it then he had to have it. I gave up on that. I do like to sit on my bed and write. I’ve tried to go to other parts of the house to write, but I found that it’s either too noisy or distracting, especially if there are messes to clean.

Lolita: I need music and soda—and that’s about it. Well. Okay. Sometimes, especially when I’m writing late at night, I like to wear my purple house robe. I basically shuffle around the house looking like The Dude—but no white Russians here. :0  I’m strictly a teetotaling soda girl!  (And that’s a Big Lebowski reference, for those not in the know!)

After a brazen Splinter attack, the Shadow Force uncovers secrets about Dizzy’s late mother that entangle her in a web of deceit. To save Venom, her father and an operative named Terror, Dizzy digs deep and risks it all.

Venom refuses to stand idly by while Dizzy’s haunted past threatens the future they’re trying to build. He finally has a reason for living—and he’s not giving her up.

Loving Dangerously, Book Three

Jess hates aliens. After the invasion that destroyed Earth, the extraterrestrial bastards sold her to a brothel as a sex slave. She may have escaped but the old memories and fears still linger in the dark corners of her mind. Supposedly Sonis is just the place for her—somewhere safe, where she can heal and start fresh. She’s almost hopeful…until she meets Rasha, her new boss.

Rasha, captain of the Sonis Royal Guard, is a warrior through and through. He’s huge, sinfully sexy and could have any woman on Sonis—but the woman he wants is Jess. He’s very much an alien and Jess knows she should hate him or at least be wary, but whenever he’s around, she loses control. She tells herself it’s only sex—amazing, mind-blowing sex like nothing else she’s ever experienced—but there’s something about Rasha that shakes her soul. The feel of his skin against hers, the look in his eyes as he touches her—they make her want to believe it’s possible to find love and begin again.

Giveaway Winners

It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving and the world seems like a strange place. Probably because other than Turkey day, I spent nearly my entire 5-day weekend in sweats or pajamas. Ahh, it was wonderful! I didn’t even crack open my laptop except to order pizza. Gotta keep my priorities straight. I didn’t write this weekend even though it’s what I’d planned. Nope, I read. And read some more. And read even more. And it was fabulous!

But I also seem to have caught a cold. Joy. Nothing worse than trying to sleep but you can’t because you can hear yourself breathing, hear the congestion in your chest and feel the post-nasal drip. Ugh. What a nightmare, but that’s okay. It’ll pass and I can use the foggy-headedness to write. Hey, I take every advantage I can.

Now I know y’all aren’t really here to find out about my cold, my pajamas or how much cake I ate while I was off. Y’all want to know who won the 20 prize grand prize of the 1,000 blog post giveaway. Right? Well here are the winners:
